You may think that you would get something close to 5G internet speed capabilities as the top-tier internet package. And while the Premium Surf package offers the fastest connection available with Disney Cruise Line, it’s still nothing like fast internet at home. One point to note is that video streaming is not included in the Basic Surf Package. The Premium plan is the way to go for those looking to access nearly all of the wonders of the web you’re used to, including music or video streaming. If you don’t plan on using your cellular carrier roaming data while cruising, we recommend putting your phone in airplane mode when you cruise.
What Are The Disney Cruise Internet Packages?
These changes have now been rolled out on all ships, with the Disney Wonder being the final ship to upgrade to the new system during a September 2023 Dry Dock. The highest tier of internet packages includes social media, web and email access, video streaming, and music streaming for $42 a day, purchased by the day, or $34 per day for the length of the cruise. This is an increase of 13-16% based on last year’s pricing of $24 per day, or $20 per day for the length of the cruise. Keep in mind, as of the time of this blog post, the Disney Wonder has not yet transitioned to offering the new internet packages, and only the older/ slower plans are available for purchase. Disney Cruise Line is now offering guests Internet options starting at $12/day (a 24 hour period). The new Internet offering are based on type of usage versus a measured data plan such as a 1GB plan.

Pearl members are instead allowed to arrive anytime at the port, as long as it is at least one hour before all aboard time. Pearl members who had already checked in even found that their boarding group number was moved to #2 – an earlier time — or they were told they no longer needed to select an arrival time. Notably missing is the Disney Wonder, which according to Sanders, should be updated to the new internet plans during an upcoming dry dock. As of today, this is rolling out on the Disney Magic, but guests on the Disney Dream are still offered the previous MB data plans.
It’s also the cheapest package and the most affordable plan. If you need to do more data-intensive work, the 1000MB plan at $89 would be your best choice. Data can be shared, so if there are several of you that want to stay connected, this plan may be sufficient.

Then there are some, like it or not, which have responsibilities that necessitate going online for work or school. Thankfully, there are plans plans available to satisfy everyone from NO INTERNET to Premium Surf. Disney warns cruise guests that onboard internet may sometimes be slow, interrupted, or completely unavailable. This is especially true on at-sea days; the final sea day of a Disney Alaska cruise is notoriously bad for internet due to the ship’s position and direction of travel.
Disney Cruise Line – Internet Package Tips and Tricks
These new Disney Cruise Internet Packages were a welcome change for the ships, which have up to now only offered expensive data usage-based options. You can have full function of the app solely by connecting your phone to the ship’s wi-fi in airplane mode. Basic Surf includes social media and access to the web and email for $28 a day, purchased by the day, or $24 per day for the length of the cruise. If you want to use the same Disney Cruise Line WiFi package on multiple devices simultaneously, make sure you opt for that number of devices when you sign up and pay for a WiFi package. If you have not already done so, be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and log in on your mobile device before your cruise.
